- Type "TIM" at the DOS prompt and press ENTER to invoke the
- program.
- Do not attempt to run PRUN.EXE.
- The first time the program is executed, it will build the
- data files which are used to store the data. There will be
- four database files created.

- ----------------------- OVERVIEW -------------------------------

- TIM is a personal inventory type program which will keep
- track of all your worldly goods. It can be used by any
- individual who has personal belongings. Persons with several
- rent houses will also find it useful, as will almost any
- small company. You can keep inventory records for several
- different locations or houses and know what items are at
- which house or location.

- There are several reports which can be printed on your
- printer.
- 1. Complete listing by item
- 2. Complete listing by category
- 3. Serial number listing
- 4. Complete listing by room
- 5. A summary of value by category
- 6. Export records to a comma delimited ascii file
-
- All items on the main menu can be chosen either by
- highlighting the item with the cursor and pressing ENTER, or
- by pressing the corresponding letter and then pressing ENTER.

- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
-
- A color monitor is required. A Monochrome monitor wil work,
- but some words will be hard to see.

- Hard Drive Installation:
- Create a subdirectory called TIM.
- Type MD C:\TIM
- Copy all files to this subdirectory.
- Place original disk in drive a.
- Type copy a:*.* c:\TIM
- Place original disk in a safe place for future use.
- At the C: prompt type cd \TIM, then
- at the C: prompt type TIM to execute the program.

- Floppy Drive Installation:
- Create a working copy of the original floppy disk.
- Place original disk in drive a.
- Type diskcopy a: a:
- Place original disk in a safe place for future use.
- At the A: prompt type TIM to execute the program.

- MAIN MENU OPTIONS

- A. UPDATE HOME INVENTORY ITEMS
- Choose this option to view a table of items you have
- input into the data base. You will be asked to select a
- sorting method for viewing the records. The sorting options
- are: Item, Category, or room. Move the cursor to the your
- choice and press ENTER. If no items exist in the database,
- you will be presented with a form for input of new items. If
- items exist in the database, you will be presented with a
- table showing the items you have input. You may highlite an
- item and press ENTER to see more information about it, and/or
- make changes to it. To add a new item, press the INSERT key.
- You will be presented with the form for input of new items.
- This is the same form used to make changes to existing items.
- When you reach the LOCATION, ROOM and CATEGORY fields, you
- may press ENTER to display a list of available choices. You
- can move the cursor to the proper selection and press ENTER.
- Your selection will be placed in the form automatically for
- you. While viewing the table of items, press ESCAPE to return
- to the main menu. To delete a record, highlite the record
- with the cursor and press the DELETE key. You will be asked
- to confirm the deletion of the record. While viewing this
- table, you may print two reports. One is a serial number
- list which only prints records which contain a serial number.
- The other report will list all items sorted by item. The
- command keys used to print these reports are listed at the
- bottom of the screen.

- B. UPDATE ROOMS IN THE HOUSE
- Choose this option to display a table showing the rooms
- you have input, sorted by ROOM. If you have not entered any
- rooms, you will be presented with a form to add a new room.
- If rooms exist in the database, you will be presented with a
- table showing all the rooms in the data base. You may
- highlite a room and press ENTER to make changes to it. To add
- a new room, press the INSERT key. You will be presented with
- the form for input of new rooms. This is the same form used
- to make changes to existing rooms. While viewing the table of
- rooms, press ESCAPE to return to the main menu. To delete a
- record, highlite the record with the cursor and press the
- DELETE key. You will be asked to confirm the deletion of the
- record.

- C. UPDATE CATEGORIES
- Choose this option to display a table showing the
- categories you have input, sorted by CATEGORY. If you have
- not entered any categories, you will be presented with a form
- to add a new category. If categories exist in the database,
- you will be presented with a table showing all the categories
- in the data base. You may highlite a category and press ENTER
- to make changes to it. To add a new category, press the
- INSERT key. You will be presented with the form for input of
- new categories. This is the same form used to make changes
- to existing categories. While viewing the table of
- categories, press ESCAPE to return to the main menu. To
- delete a record, highlite the record with the cursor and
- press the DELETE key. You will be asked to confirm the
- deletion of the record. Examples of categories could be:
- Stereo Equipment, Furniture, Software, Dishes, etc.

- D. BROWSE INVENTORY ITEMS
- This option will display one record at a time on the
- screen. You can use the cursor keys and the page up and page
- down keys to browse through the records. This screen will
- show all the information about each record. You can use the
- same command keys for deleting, adding and changing as in the
- other tables described above.

- E. UPDATE PROPERTY LOCATIONS
- This option will allow you to input addresses, notes,
- etc. for the property locations you where your inventory is
- kept. You must input a location code for each location. It
- must be unique and can be made up of any two character
- combination of your choosing. There is also a place for
- keeping notes about the location, such as renter's name, when
- the property was rented, etc.

- U. PRINT CATEGORY SUMMARY TOTALS
- This is a report which will be printed on your printer.
- You will be asked for a location. The report will print for
- only one location at a time. A table will be displayed with
- a list of the available locations and you can select the
- proper one with the cursor. After selecting, you will be
- prompted to press ENTER to print the report or press ESCAPE
- to abort and/or change the location. This report prints only
- totals for each category for the location selected.

- V. PRINT INVENTORY LIST BY ITEM
- This is a report which will be printed on your printer.
- You will be asked for a location. The report will print for
- only one location at a time. A table will be displayed with
- a list of the available locations and you can select the
- proper one with the cursor. After selecting, you will be
- prompted to press ENTER to print the report or press ESCAPE
- to abort and/or change the location. This report will print
- each item you have input for the location selected. It will
- be sorted by item name.

- W. PRINT INVENTORY LIST BY ROOM
- This is a report which will be printed on your printer.
- You will be asked for a location. The report will print for
- only one location at a time. A table will be displayed with
- a list of the available locations and you can select the

- to abort and/or change the location. This report will print
- each item you have input for the location selected. It will
- be sorted by room.

- X. PRINT LIST BY CATEGORY
- This is a report which will be printed on your printer.
- You will be asked for a location. The report will print for
- only one location at a time. A table will be displayed with
- a list of the available locations and you can select the
- proper one with the cursor. After selecting, you will be
- prompted to press ENTER to print the report or press ESCAPE
- to abort and/or change the location. This report will print
- each item you have input for the location selected. It will
- be sorted by category.

- Y. PRINT SERIAL NUMBER LIST
- This is a report which will be printed on your printer.
- You will be asked for a location. The report will print for
- only one location at a time. A table will be displayed with
- a list of the available locations and you can select the
- proper one with the cursor. After selecting, you will be
- prompted to press ENTER to print the report or press ESCAPE
- to abort and/or change the location. This report will print
- each item you have input for the location selected. It will
- print only records which have a serial number. If you do not
- input a serial number for any of your items, they will not be
- printed on this report.

- Z. PRINT RECORDS TO DISK
- This option will allow you to print all records for a
- selected location to an ascii file. You will be asked to
- input a location code for the report. You can type in a code
- or press F10 to pick the location from a table. After
- selecting the desired location, you will be asked for a name
- for the file. Type in a legal DOS file name and press ENTER.
- You can use up to eight characters plus a three character
- extension. (example: Inventor.Rpt.) If a file exists in the
- current directory with the same name, it will be erased and
- the new file written in it's place. The ascii file can be
- edited with a word processor or text editor. This file can
- be copied to another disk or directory before this option is
- selected again, to keep from destroying it. It can also be
- imported into other data base programs.

- QUIT
- Choose this option to end the program and return to
- DOS. Unregistered versions will return to the shareware
- information screen and you will have to press ESCAPE from
- there to return to DOS.
